Video recording from the topotheque day

This time around the topotheque day took place right after the 5th Austrian Archives Day which was held in St. Pölten (AT) on 07 November 2014. After a welcoming introduction by the director of the Lower Austrian State Archives –AignerDr. Willibald Rosner – our ICARUS president Dr. Thomas Aigner gave a presentation on how the topotheque is embedded into ICARUS. The founder of the topotheque – Mag. Alexander Schatek – then proceeded with a general introduction to the concept and idea of the topotheque.

3 progress reports from 3 different Austrian topothequers (the person handling and managing a topotheque) finally concluded the first part of the topotheque day:10686756_10152824041656774_1153849041124509563_n

Saturday, 08 November 2014, was entirely dedicated to the regional topothequers: altogether 17 of them gathered in St. Pölten in order to exchange experiences on how to run a topotheque, how to most effectively collect new material etc. The meeting was so eagerly spirited that it had to be extended far into the afternoon and the wish for a repetition of such a get-together was undeniable.

What a wonderful experience and occasion to see all this vivid engagement!
